I’ve spent a good amount of time in London throughout my 25 years of living but until this last trip I was in the dark about a neighborhood I now consider a must-see in London, the neighborhood of Shoreditch. This recently mundane now-turned hipster neighborhood is so trendy it puts Brooklyn to shame, seriously. From the funky cafes to the ever-so trendy pop-up shops it was clear this neighborhood was not lacking in the artistic department.
SHOREDITCH
On the weekend we walked through the crowded streets. I couldn’t get over the amount of people, it was so alive and full of energy. The people here were far from boring, they were quite interesting actually. From the leather to the vintage clothing, this young crowd who lives here brings the style. As I made my way around, there was an insane amount of artists painting graffiti on the nearby walls. This neighborhood was all about freedom of expression and I was into it.
On Sunday we walked around some more. There were bands playing and music blasting from every which way. Numerous food stalls were set up in the middle of the street serving every kind of food imaginable. It was one big party in the Shoreditch neighborhood. We were told this is an every-weekend type deal, so it’s always like this!
One of the coolest cafes that’s a favorite around these parts is Cereal Killer Cafe – famous for serving hundreds of different types of cereal from all over the world!
I did some window-shopping and knew if I actually went into any of the stores I would be doomed. I kept a safe distance. My bank account appreciated that, I could’ve done some serious shopping damage.
One thing not to miss is the Columbia Road Flower Market on Sundays. I was in awe of the beautiful flowers and chowed down some olives while I walked around shopping.
Next time I’m in London I’m definitely spending some more time getting to know this special neighborhood. I must say that after my first time being there I am very impressed and excited about my newfound love affair with Shoreditch. I can’t wait to go back!
